May I take a moment to brag?

The Kids Clothing Week Challenge began this Monday and when I sat down to my sewing machine, I decided to sew ... myself a purse.

You see, many months ago I saved a purse tutorial from Oh, Fransson! and immediately bought all the fabric. It was so long ago that when I went to find the tutorial off of her website, it was gone. Fortunately, Elizabeth responded to my begging and generously sent me a copy.

So, while I know I should have been sewing kids clothing; I need a purse, I had the fabric and the pattern, and decided to give it a go.

Here it is.

It has been rainy and gloomy here for weeks and I don't have the patience to wait for good light, especially because I am so stinkin' proud of this project. It's the first semi-complicated project I have ever made without a major goof. My only complaint is that it's pretty summery, considering we're headed into winter (remember, I bought the fabric long ago).

That's no big deal, I consider it my ray of sun in all the gloom.

I am so impressed with the ease of the tutorial that I will definitely be spending some more time over at Oh, Fransson!

Here are a couple other pictures, for good measure.

Also, if you're looking for some great sewing ideas for your little boys and girls, I highly recommend you follow the KCWC link above. I've saved up some great ideas, and even though I won't be making them during the challenge, I'll definitely be making them.

  1. That is SO cute. Great job, Kate. You've inspired me to whip out my sewing machine and make something for myself. (After I finish the Halloween costumes that is.)

  2. Great purse! I love the style of it. How tough was it? I've only made pillows and curtains (easy), so I think it might be beyond me. I need a new purse and I love the idea of being able to pick out the fabric.
