I didn't realize how wonderful it is to hang clothes on the line until this summer. I have always thought it would be wonderful, but I've never had the opportunity to do such a thing before.
While lots of people might balk at such a thing, the clothesline in the back yard was one of the many selling points of our current duplex. Imagine my delight at the springlike weather we started having in early April! Our clothes line has gotten a lot of use. Not only are we saving energy and money (I've read you can save up to $25/month, so we'll see), we're keeping our house cooler by running less major appliances and I don't have to listen to the steady hum of the dryer all day.
Life is good.

Clothes hanging on a clothesline is really beautiful isn't it? I'm hoping to get a clothesline up at my house very soon.
ReplyDeleteI love it too. Somehow the laundry doesn't feel like drudgery when I'm out in the sun, and everything smells so good when it's dried that way! And yes, the drone of the dryer will not be missed.
ReplyDeleteCute picture. I wish I could hang clothes, but mine would be covered with pine sap and bird shit.

Tip: dry brightly colored clothes inside out - it keeps them from fading!
ReplyDeleteI love love love the picture of your washing, it looks so pretty. Here in New Zealand the sun fades the washing so quick we have to hang it all inside out! Currently it's winter here and my clothesline gets no sun in the winter, so it's the steady hum of the drier for me till spring.
