We've made a little progress in making our front porch a happy place. It's gone from this to this:
It might not look like much, but I scored that great red rocking chair for $20 and our lettuce is growing nicely. You can also see there are some potted plants coming along nicely.
In the front of the house, Joel built these great boxes. Here's a picture.
I am figuring we can do two rows of plants in these. In the back row I've already planted some peas and beans, and a white flowering vine called ... called ... well, the name is escaping me at the moment. I'll let you know the next time when it is actually growing. In the front row, I'm going to plant a mixture of flowers and herbs. It's all kind of an experiment at this point because I've never gardened like this.
Here's another angle of our porch that shows these lovely flowering bushes that I've been told are rhododendron. But I don't think they are. Whatever they are, they sure spice up the front of this house!
I still can't decide if it's going to be horrible or incredible to have beans and flowers that vine almost to the roof of the porch. I'll keep you posted.

I love those boxes! He did such a good job. I can't wait to see whether or not you get the ladder out to pick your peas and beans! Half the fun, right?! What are the orange flowering bushes? Those are pretty :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

I read the title of the post and thought, oh no, are they moving again!?!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a nice porch to spend a weekend on. Like a nice Girl's weekend, sipping Sangria and talking about life. ;)
ReplyDeleteThose bushes are *gorgeous*, and I think the vines will be super cool. xo
